About Maura

I grew up in a place called Killadoon, a few miles west of Louisburgh and overlooking Clare Island. Clare Island ( the home of  Grainne UI Mhaille), Inish Turk, and to the left Inish Boffin. We were surrounded by mountains ie Mweelrea, and Croagh Patrick. I watched the changing colours of the landscape and the sea. I never saw the same colours on any one day. The colours seem to be more beautiful and ever changing. This was my introduction to painting in all mediums and my introduction to the beauty we inherited coming from a place like this.

I discovered how peaceful and tranquil I felt when recreating this beauty in a painting, and particularly the years of stress rearing a family, running a business and now back to what I love most.
